Grandparent’s Day 2014

Without a doubt, the greatest joy in my life is being the grandparent of 2 wonderful grandsons.  My oldest grandson has had some significant challenges over the past year, and watching him struggle and overcome these challenges has been an inspiration.  My youngest grandson, born 5 weeks early, experienced and overcame his own set of challenges, spending 11 days in NICU while his tiny lungs developed to the point that he could finally go home.  Both my grandsons remind me of the fragility of human life and how quickly the things we take for granted can change.  They remind me that every life is precious and provide me the inspiration to fight for every unborn child’s Right to life.

Being a grandparent is everything I had hoped it would be and more.  I treasure the time I’m able to spend running through the grass and playing with my 3 year old.  My 1 year old is taking his first steps, and watching the look of sheer joy on his face as he teeters toward my outstretched arms is heartwarming.  I want every grandparent to experience the joy of spending time with their grandchildren.

Unfortunately, every year in America over a million opportunities to become a grandparent are denied by Planned Parenthood and our nation’s abortion industry.  They kill thousands of children every day and foster a culture of death instead of one of nurturing.  The very same people who kill children daily for money go home to their own children and grandchildren every night.  Those of us who were allowed to be born should not be deciding who gets to live and who must die.

Last night, after a fun day of running and playing, I embraced my 3 year old grandson as he lay his head on my shoulder and fell asleep.  Knowing that he fell asleep in my arms, knowing that his Pop Pop loves him beyond all measure means everything to me.  As I carried him up the stairs to his room I knew I was carrying one of God’s priceless creations and was overcome with gratitude for the privilege of having him in my life.  I tucked him safety into his bed, looking forward to all the fun days we have ahead of us, knowing that none of them are guaranteed and that all of them must be treasured.

Grandparent’s Day should be more than just a date on the calendar.  It should be a reminder to all parents and grandparents of the sacred obligation we have been entrusted with; the care and protection of our children and grandchildren.  This obligation doesn’t begin at birth.  It begins at conception.  We have a duty as the patriarchs and matriarchs of our families to instill a respect and reverence for the sanctity of every life, at every stage of life into our children and grandchildren.   Happy Grandparent’s Day!

Sept. 5, 2014

Right about this time last year the worst President in the history of our great nation was making noises about attacking Syria.  His sole intent was to garner political points, not to help anyone or save any lives.  In the end, just like every other time during his tenure that a tough decision had to be made, he was all talk and no action.  A year later he is all over the place with his statements about what he will or won’t do to to defeat ISIS.  The world is on fire and he is saying we can transform a bloodthirsty terrorist organization into a manageable problem.

Elections have consequences and poor decisions result in poor outcomes.  America gets the leaders we deserve, and like it or not, we’re stuck with President Obama for 2 more years.  Last Sept. 8th I wrote the following letter to the President.  I wanted to convey my contempt for his naivete and utter disregard for protecting innocent lives.  One year later it’s rather apparent that he didn’t get the message.

Washington, D.C.  20500

Attn:    President Barack Obama

 September 8, 2013

Mr. President:

I just wanted to remind you that while the world watches with baited breath as you speak Tuesday night, America’s abortion industry will still be killing our unborn children at a rate of 1 every 26 seconds.  While we wait to see if you will unilaterally, albeit unconstitutionally decide to lob cruise missiles, at a million and a half bucks a copy, into Syria, America’s abortion mills will end another busy day with a final tally of about 3,300 dead babies.

Your friends at Planned Parenthood will be watching too.  They won’t be worried about the cost of this operation or the death toll though.  They know that they’ll still be getting their forced contribution from the American taxpayers this year of over $500 million; or the cost of somewhere between 300 and 400 cruise missiles.  Mr. President, Planned Parenthood will kill over 330,000 American babies with the $500 million they get from our government this year.  How many Syrian children will your ‘limited operation’ kill?  Have you done the calculation?  Do you care?

Mr. President, what is the logic behind killing innocent civilians with explosives because either their government or radical Islamists killed innocent civilians with chemical weapons?  Innocent children are killed every day in America with lethal chemicals.  Every day, toxic saline amniocentesis abortions are performed and every day lethal RU 486 drugs are administered to kill unborn American children and you say nothing. Every day the death toll in America’s abortion mills is more than double the highest reported number of deaths attributed to the chemical weapons attack you’ve chosen to make a “measured and appropriate’ response to.

Here’s a suggestion.  Make a “measured and appropriate” response to the killing of 1.2 million unborn children in America this year.  If you’re willing to spend billions of dollars to participate in a civil war between Al Qaeda supported rebels and a brutal dictator, surely you’re willing to put forth at least as much effort to defend the lives of America’s unborn children.  If you feel that the killing of millions of unborn children on your watch isn’t important enough for you to weigh in on, please explain why.  I’d like to know.

Mr. President, this is where I normally advise the recipients of my letters that I’ll be publishing them on my pro-life blog at www.prolifepoppop.com.  I’m sure the NSA knows this already.  I’ll publish your replies and theirs too should either of you choose to reply; unedited of course.

Letter to President Obama #97

The White House

1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW

Washington, D.C.  20500

Attn:    President Barack Obama

 September 3, 2014

Mr. President:

Shortly after 9/11 your good friend and mentor Jeremiah Wright said “America’s chickens have come home to roost.”  The culture of death in America’s abortion mills and the rise of fanatical terrorist organizations throughout the world is the Universe telling us to change our ways.  Statements from a racist hate-monger like Jeremiah Wright mean nothing.  Human suffering and death at the hands of murderous organizations like Planned Parenthood and ISIS are real and present dangers to our way of life and must be dealt with now; not kicked down the road for future generations to deal with.

Statements from you that an organization like ISIS can be reduced to a manageable threat level shows that you truly are an amateur.  Mr. President, the civilized world cannot co-exist with evil; it must eliminate evil.  How do we end the practice of killing our unborn children for money or stop Islamic thugs from murdering thousands of innocent people if we don’t even have the courage to call evil out by name?  Your administration refuses to call ISIS an Islamic terrorist organization even though they use the word Islamic in their name.  You call the elective killing of an unborn child abortion, pregnancy termination, and a woman’s right to choose.  You lack the courage to call Islamic goons what they are and turn your head as over a million unborn children are murdered in the womb every year in America, and wonder why our chickens have come home to roost.

Mr. President, your ineptitude and contemptuous disregard for moral clarity have placed the world and your country in danger.  You allow thousands of innocent American children to be killed every day, but you’re reluctant to take the fight to a gang of blood-thirsty terrorists.  Sir, if any of your advisors have a shred of honesty in them they will tell you that you are projecting an image of weakness to the world.  Like it or not, we are in a war with Islamic terrorists.  You have 2 choices; win the war or do nothing and allow the world to descend into anarchy.  This is no time for the leader of the free world to become a linguini-spined, blubbering dunce.  Get with the program and start doing what you swore an oath to do.

Mr. President, this is a seminal moment for America.  We have a unique opportunity to show the world the true meaning of courage and commitment.  We can end the killing of our unborn children and show the world how we respect the Right of every unborn child to be born and to make the most of the gift of life they have been given.  We can show the world that we have the moral courage to fight those who would take innocent lives in the name of an insane ideology and to eliminate evil from the face of the earth.

Follow the Breadcrumbs

It seems like every time I start to get discouraged in my fight to save the world’s unborn children something will happen to remind me that failure isn’t an option and that I have to stay the course.  At this stage of my life I pay attention to the small things that I wouldn’t have noticed just a few years ago.  Last weekend I wasn’t able to spend the time I had hoped to spend writing and researching for my blog.  I was sure that when I checked my viewer statistics today my page views would be down.  Much to my surprise, my blog had more page views last weekend than it ever has.  I’ll take that as a sign to keep up the fight.

I can see the end of my normal work routine in the near future and look forward to “retirement” when I can dedicate my efforts full-time to ending abortion and working for other worthy causes.  I look forward to watching my grandsons grow up and playing a part in teaching them the values of honor and integrity, and respecting every human beings’ right to life.

As I enter this part of my life I do so with hope and optimism.  I’m ready for the fight of my life for the Right to life for every child.  I’m fascinated daily by random conversations and subtle signs that reinforce to me that what I am trying to do will make a difference.  I call them breadcrumbs, marking the way to my final destination.  The subtle signs that get my attention can be as subtle as a pleasant word from a total stranger or the beautiful sight of countless stars in a clear night sky.

Watching my grandsons as they play and feeling their unconditional love when I am in their presence is one of my greatest motivations.  I want everyone to feel the same thing I feel when I’m with the children of my children.  I want every child to grow up happy, healthy, and safe.  The greatest honor and heaviest responsibility of my life is knowing that my children and grandchildren know they are safe when I am with them.  I know that they know I would die willingly to prevent either of them from being harmed.  We should all have the same attitude when it comes to children.  We all have a sacred duty to protect every child from harm and to intervene when any child is being harmed, under any circumstances and regardless of any risk of harm we may face by doing so.

Life leaves all of us our universally unique trail of breadcrumbs.  All we need to do is recognize them for what they are, and to act upon what they are telling us.  If we’ll all just be quiet and listen, we’ll find our purpose.  Mine is saving children.  Yours could be anything.  If it’s serves humanity while harming no one, it is worthy of all the effort you can muster.

To Whom it May Concern:

For 3 days this week your office was teeming with customers.  I call them customers and not patients because they are paying you to kill their unborn babies.  You don’t provide medical treatment to these mothers; you provide a brutal service at their request.  You can call killing a human being for money anything you want but in the end it’s nothing more than murder for hire.  It’s still legal for the most part to kill unborn children in America, but I intend to change that.  I will not leave this world without knowing that I stood on the side of life and every child’s Right to exercise it.

A culture of death is casting a pale over America and the world, and Planned Parenthood has played a large part in fomenting the attitudes that lead to this decay.  You encourage young people to terminate their pregnancies (kill their unborn children) so they can seemingly avoid the consequences of their actions.  You convince them that the living human being growing inside them is not really human.  You devalue life on a personal level and transform hundreds of thousands of mothers of living children into mothers of dead children every year.

A society that allows its unborn children to be killed as a simple matter of choice engenders a systemic disregard for the sanctity of life.  Allowing over a million innocent children to be killed every year in our country has resulted in generations of childless families.  Something has gone terribly wrong in America.  One out of every three unborn children should not be summarily executed in the country representing the world’s last best hope.  Clinics like yours should not be popping up in small towns like mine; setting up shop to kill my neighbors’ children.

I’m a simple man but I feel honor-bound to speak out for those who have no voice.  The children you kill daily were not created so they could be murdered in the womb.  Every child you kill weakens the fiber of our collective humanity and every child you kill strengthens my resolve to close your doors forever.  Not a minute goes by that I don’t think about the children you killed today and the ones I still have a chance to save tomorrow.  What I still haven’t figured out is how to convince Planned Parenthood and everyone else in abortion industry to take a step back and take an unfiltered look at what you do every day and call it anything but what it is; killing innocent children for a fee.

I’ll keep asking you to stop killing our children and hopefully my efforts will save some lives and change some minds.  This isn’t a fight I chose to take part in but a fight that I have no choice but to win.  I have faith that if I stay in the fight our children will win their Right to life.

All my letters are published on my pro-life blog at www.prolifepoppop.com.  Write back and I’ll publish it, unedited.

Letter to President Obama #96

The White House

Attn:    President Barack Obama

 August 27, 2014

Mr. President:

Cowards know what the right thing to do is, but don’t have the courage to do it.  They go through life hoping someone else will make the difficult decisions they don’t have the stomach for; hoping that someone else will have the courage they can’t seem to muster.  So goes America today.  Our elected leaders would rather bicker and argue over politics than serve the people that put them in office.  They allow our unborn children to be killed by the millions and embolden terrorists like ISIS to brutally murder our citizens as a result of their tepid response in defense of innocent human lives.

As I’ve written many times over the last couple of years, I believe a tug of war between good and evil is taking place worldwide.  China kills tens of thousands of unborn children every week under its one child policy.  Hamas seeks the total annihilation of Israel, as does Iran.  ISIS murders women and children daily for having the audacity to own a cell phone or being a Christian.  The greatest country on earth allows over a million of its unborn children to be killed every year. We all know evil when we see it but far too many of us choose to do nothing, hoping that someone else will do the heavy lifting and that we will be the benefactors of their efforts.

We kill one another in the name of religion, radical ideologies, and blind obedience to misguided leaders.  The world has more than enough of anything anybody could ever want, or feel the need to kill for, and it all can be had by simply asking.  There’s no need to kill each other over politics, a parcel of land, or, in the case of our unborn children, as a matter of convenience.  Mr. President, the world stands on the precipice of total anarchy and you’re working on your golf game.  A blood-thirsty terrorist group has vowed to fly their flag in the White House and you fail to understand or lack the courage to do what has to be done; eliminating them from the face of the earth.

Mr. President, America needs to occupy the moral high ground in times like this.  We need to set an example that taking innocent lives is never justified, and stop killing our own children.  We need to step up and defeat the terrorists wherever they are by whatever means we need to employ.   A righteous war is one where innocent lives are protected.  I’m fighting one to protect the world’s unborn children.  Like it or not, terrorists like ISIS have declared war on America; a war we have no choice but to fight and win.  Mr. President, with all due respect, put away the golf bag, strap on a pair, and go win this thing.

To Whom it May Concern:

The full parking lot at your facility today meant bad news for the unborn children of my community.  From your perspective business was good.  The children you killed today saw it in a somewhat different light.  Many of them caught a fleeting glimpse of life outside the womb just before they were dispatched in the most brutal way.  They were simply doing what they were meant to do; living and growing.  For a few hundred dollars their brief lives among us were ended.  Their lives that were way too short and their sudden, violent deaths did not go unnoticed.  The One who sees all was watching.

The One who sees all does not grant the gift of life lightly.  Every new life has its own unique purpose.  Every new life that ends before it can realize its universally unique purpose leaves us all the poorer.  Every new life that ends in a Planned Parenthood clinic denies its Creator’s wishes that it grow and flourish.  Planned Parenthood could stop killing babies for money tomorrow.  There is no moral imperative that you do what you do every day.   You’ll be breaking no laws if you end the killing tomorrow.

Call it karma, call it justice, call it what you want; the consequences of what you do will be severe.  Killing hundreds of thousands of innocent children every year will exact a heavy price from organizations like yours who award bonuses to clinics that kill more children this year than they did last year.  As I write this the world is quaking in fear over a bunch of thugs who call themselves ISIS.  They brutally kill innocent people in the name of an insane ideology.  Planned Parenthood will kill more human beings this year than ISIS could ever dream of killing.  You’ll do so in the name of an insane ideology that says a woman has the right to choose to have her unborn child killed on demand.

The goons at ISIS dream of instituting an Islamic caliphate that would plunge the world back into the 6th century; a time of barbarous brutality.  Aside from the comforts of modern technology, one could argue that Planned Parenthood and the world’s abortion industry operate from the same mindset.  We live in a world where terrorists are killing innocent people to promote their cause while your organization kills innocent people to promote your cause.

We can do better.  We must do better.  I will spend the rest of my life, if need be, to put you and everyone else in the business of killing children out of business.  I’m determined that my grandsons will grow up in a world where one third of their future friends are not killed in the womb.  You can deny what we both know to be true and continue to refuse to even read my letters, or join me in my quest to end abortion.

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge: No Thanks

ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a terrible disease and I pray that a cure will be found soon.  I can’t in good faith, however, participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.  The ALS Association uses embryonic stem cells in its research to develop a cure.  In order to obtain embryonic stem cells a living human embryo must be destroyed or the cells must be harvested from an aborted baby.  After years of embryonic stem cell research a total of zero cures or effective medical uses have been developed.  The moral juxtaposition of using embryonic stem cells is that a living human being must be killed in order to conduct research that may or may not save a life or lives in the future.  The only stem cell research that has lead to positive results has been performed with adult stem cells.  There is no ethical dilemma in using adult stem cells since they can be harvested without killing or harming the donor in any way.

Working towards a cure for a deadly disease like ALS is a noble pursuit.  Sacrificing tiny humans in the hope of finding a breakthrough is not the way to do it.  Every life is equally as valuable as any other.  I’m no more important than a human embryo and sadly, neither is someone afflicted with ALS.  Since embryonic stem cell research has been a dismal failure, maybe a better use for the ALS Association’s money and resources would be a different course of action.

I don’t claim to have all the answers nor do I claim to be the moral authority on who should do what for whatever reason.  I do know what I feel in my heart and what I see as ethical and moral, and anyone wishing to disagree with me is free to do so.  My friends and family taking the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge are doing it for the right reasons.  They’re raising money and raising awareness, and hopefully their efforts will lead to a cure.  My hope is that the ALS Association will use this financial windfall and PR bonanza as an impetus to move away from the use of embryonic stem cells and pursue other avenues towards a cure.

Taking innocent lives to potentially save innocent lives is not the way to go.  I have no doubt that the ALS Association’s intentions are pure.  My problem is with their means and methods.  When they abandon the use of embryonic stem cells I’ll be four-square behind them.  I’ll happily take my turn with the ice bucket and write them a check.  Until then; no thanks.

Letter to President Obama #95

The White House

Washington, D.C.  20500

Attn:    President Barack Obama

 August 20, 2014

Mr. President:

The beheading of James Foley by an ISIS goon showed the world the face of true evil.  An organization that brutally murders innocent civilians in the name of an insane ideology has no place in this world.  Even the Pope has endorsed the use of force to rid the world of these barbarians.  Sir, if you turn the other cheek to terrorists, they’ll cut it off.  And if we don’t take the fight to them they’ll bring it to us.  Our military heroes represent the most sophisticated, well trained fighting force in the history of the world.  ISIS is no match for them and if there ever was a time for America to flex its muscles, it’s now.

Matthew 5:9 states: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.  The terrorists of the world claim to be fighting a holy war.  The true holy war will be the one we must wage to rid the world of ISIS and every other group of terrorist thugs who identify themselves with an abbreviation and a propensity to hide behind women and children when it’s time to fight.  A gang of thugs who are too cowardly to even show their faces doesn’t have a chance when it comes to a real fight against a highly trained and motivated fighting force like our military.

Mr. President, you’re taking baby steps against an opponent who sees baby steps as a sign of weakness.  Targeted airstrikes are a start but must be followed by direct engagement of the enemy.  Political reactions to acts of terrorism won’t get the job done.  America is war weary and rightly so, but ISIS and its hangers on are determined to ply their deadly trade on our soil.  ISIS represents a real and present danger to America and our interests around the world.  Their stated goal is to fly their flag in the White House.  We ignore these barbarians at our own peril and if we don’t stamp ISIS out now it will only be more difficult when the inevitable confrontation finally comes.

You may be asking yourself why a pro-life blogger is advocating military action in a foreign land.  As a military veteran I don’t take placing American troops in harm’s way lightly.  I also understand that as the world’s only remaining superpower, America has an obligation to exercise its capability to eradicate pests like ISIS wherever they are found.  I’ll be back on the job tomorrow fighting for the world’s unborn children.  Just like the world’s fight against terrorism, failure is not an option for me when it comes to saving children.  I’ll stay on the job and respectfully request that you finally start doing yours.

As always, my letters to you are published on my pro-life blog at www.prolifepoppop.com.  Write back and I’ll publish it, unedited.

 Ms. Richards:

As the heartland of our country burns over the death of a young man, your abortion mills are busy churning out dead children by the thousands.  No one knows for sure what happened in Ferguson, but what happens daily in your clinics is painfully obvious.  You won’t find me or my friends on the pro-life side rioting in the streets or looting your facilities.  We oppose what you do to the world’s children and we all are committed to ending the killing.  We will do so peacefully and reject the use of violence to achieve our goals.

The handful of individuals in Ferguson, Mo. committing violent acts and destruction of property are hypocrites.  They claim to oppose violence while being violent.  They claim to be outraged by what they have pre-judged as a criminal act while they commit criminal acts.  The handful of troublemakers in Ferguson are a lot like Planned Parenthood.  You claim to be soldiers against a war on women while you kill their children and scar them for life.  You claim to be a health care provider while killing hundreds of thousands of innocent children every year.

While a tiny percentage of the protesters in Ferguson are thugs, at least they haven’t killed anyone yet.  You’ll kill thousands of children this week and do it all over again next week.  In the 10 days since Michael Brown’s death over 30,000 unborn children have been killed in America by Planned Parenthood and your colleagues in the abortion industry.  The news media isn’t covering these deaths 24/7 even though each and every one of these children was just as much alive as you and I when their mothers walked through your doors.

I’ve heard a lot about moral equivalency over the past few months.  Many in the media and political left have referred to Israel and Hamas as equals even though Hamas is a terrorist organization.  They portray the violent protesters and police in Ferguson as equals.  They call abortion, the intentional killing of a human being, a simple medical procedure.  I think a lot of people want to impose a moral equivalency upon diametric opposites because they don’t have the moral courage to stand for something.  Claiming to be pro-choice is an example.  If you don’t oppose the killing of innocent children you are for it.  If you claim that a mother has the right to have her unborn child killed you endorse abortion on demand.

Ms. Richards, I proudly stand on the side of life.  I was granted the gift of life just like you and I’m determined to make the most of it, and to fight for every unborn child’s Right to it.
