Governor Perry:
As the publisher of a pro-life blog, I seldom find myself in the position of writing a letter to someone I agree with. This is one of those rare exceptions. I’m writing to offer my congratulations to you for receiving the Texas Right to Life’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Governor, like you, I’m certain that a world without abortion is near. The pro-life movement is making headway and principled leaders like you are taking a courageous stand against the pro-abortion lobby and the culture of death they represent. Texas’s H. B. 2 is a model for the nation and the next in a long series of steps that will end abortion in America. Sir, when Planned Parenthood has to pay protestors to fight against a bill that will save thousands of unborn children, you know you’re on the right side.
Governor Perry, character and grace walk hand in hand with honor and integrity. These attributes are earned, not given. Your very public expression of all these attributes speaks volumes about you as a man and serves as an inspiration to current and future leaders in a walks of life. Sir, I can think of no higher calling than working to insure that every unborn child is allowed the most basic and priceless of all rights; the right to life. You have fought and won the battles for our children and you are an inspiration for humble letter writers like me.
Every day I write letters to politicians and members of the abortion industry, and some days, for just a moment, I get frustrated. The people I write to never answer, but frankly, I don’t expect them to. It’s Ok though. I know someone reads my letters; probably not the intended recipient, but someone reads them. I know that one day, one of the people reading one of my letters will start to think about something I wrote and maybe I’ll change their mind. A couple days ago I was wondering if what I’m doing will ever make a difference, and that’s when I came across the story saying you were “certain we will one day see a world without abortion.” Governor, I don’t believe in coincidences, and I know that I was directed to stumble across your story for a reason. Just when I needed a little pick-me-up, there it was. These things seem to be occurring more and more in my life lately and, like I said, I don’t believe in coincidences.
Governor Perry, I intend to do my part to end abortion in my country and the world; and I will continue to write letters until I can no longer write. I know you will continue to work with the pro-life movement for as long as it takes. Today I’m more confident than ever that we will one day see a world without abortion.
My letters to you are published on my pro-life blog at www.prolifepoppop.com. Should you choose to reply, I’ll publish it, unedited.
