Our elected officials on both sides of the aisle are gutless. Politics and staying in office are more important to them than the sanctity of human life. They would rather continue to funnel $500 million a year to Planned Parenthood than force the President to veto defunding legislation. Same goes for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. Our elected leaders agree to hold “show votes” that they know will go nowhere so they can go home and tell their constituents that they tried. Trying doesn’t cut it. Doing is the only way to get anything done.
Some things in life are worth fighting for and worth risking everything for. If we can’t count on our elected leaders to fight for the lives of innocent children, we need new elected leaders. I’ll vote for anyone of any party who pledges to fight for the right to life of the unborn and vows to do whatever it takes to defund Planned Parenthood and put the abortion industry out of business. It’s way past time that we stop allowing over 1 million unborn children to be killed in America’s abortion mills every year.
As I write this, the most abortion-friendly President in history has just welcomed the Pope to America. Senate Democrats, at the urging of the President, killed the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act hours before the Pope arrived. Senate Republicans knew what the result would be, and held the vote with a wink and a nod to Harry Reid, and tomorrow the corruptocrats of both parties will go on; business as usual.
I’m sick of business as usual. Business as usual means that over 3,000 innocent babies will be killed tomorrow, and every tomorrow for the foreseeable future. I’m sick of Washington’s talking heads telling us what they can’t do and why they can’t do it. And I’m sick of my hard-earned tax dollars being sent to an evil organization that kills babies and sells their body parts.
The President has signaled that he is willing to shut down the government rather than cut funding to Planned Parenthood. I say shut it down. Let the President explain to the American public why funding Planned Parenthood is more important than keeping the government running, even if it is dysfunctional and running on borrowed money.
The courage of your convictions should not be driven by political expediency or concern for the consequences of your actions. The courage of your convictions should be driven by doing the right thing and following what you know in your heart you have to do. If more politicians would follow their heart instead of the polls, imagine what America would look like.
